Mongolia

Outside the capital all the country is wide, endless landscape of grasslands, mountains and semi-arid desert. Most mongolians are living as nomads like their ancestors since hundreds of years.

Beside the wide open landscape and great nature, i was deeply impressed by peoples hospitality and opennes. Even most mongolians are very poor, their richness is freedom and pride.

Pictures were taken in summer 1997 during a 3 month travel through most parts of mongolia.

I used Nikon F4 with several lenses and Kodak slide-film.

Panorama-pictures are made with special panorama-shift-adapter by zörkendörfer, germany. The lens is shifted parallel to the film plane, taking one picture for each half of the full panorama. As a result, horizontal lens-angle is doubled to 90° for a 50 mm lens.
